On Saturday, May 20, the Duvall's Annual Steer Wrestling Jackpot will host a 19-and-under jackpot with a 16-and-under incentive. It will have a minimum of $2,000 added. The entry fees are $120 for two go-rounds and a short-go.

For the first time this year, it will be a qualifying event for the Ote Berry Junior World Championships (OBJSWWC) in Las Vegas, which is part of the Junior National Finals Rodeo (JrNFR). This is the first year the JrNFR is featuring steer wrestling and has asked Ote Berry to be the sponsor.

ELIGIBILITY RULES:

• Must be 18 years of age or younger as of January 1, 2017, to be eligible to qualify for the JrNFR in Las Vegas
• Contestants 16 years of age or younger as of January 1, 2017, will be eligible to qualify for the JNFR in the incentive category, and will be eligible for incentive awards and payoff at the JNFR
• To be eligible to qualify for the JNFR, there will be a $100 fee (this money will go toward prize money and help offset production costs at the JrNFR) in addition to each of the qualifying jackpots' entry fees

The format at all OBJSWWC qualifying events will be either straight two go-rounds or two and a short. In the event that a qualifying jackpot has more than two and a short, points will be awarded in the first three go-rounds and the average based on those first three go-rounds only.

OBJSWWC JrNFR qualifiers will be determined by a points system from the qualifying jackpots. Contestants may enter up to two times at each jackpot, paying a second entry fee and a second JrNFR fee. Points will be awarded to the top 10 eligible contestants in each of the long go-rounds and the average. Points will also be awarded for the number of eligible entries in that jackpot. For example, if there are 50 contestants entered in the jackpot but only 35 paid into the JrNFR, points will be awarded based on 35 entries.

Long-Go Round's Points + # of Eligible Entries:

1. 40 points + 35 = 75 points
2. 36 points + 35 = 71 points
3. 32 points + 35 = 67 points
4. 28 points + 35 = 63 points
5. 24 points + 35 = 59 points
6. 20 points + 35 = 55 points
7. 16 points + 35 = 51 points
8. 12 points + 35 = 47 points
9. 8 points + 35 = 43 points
10. 4 points + 35 = 39 points

Average Points + # Of Eligible Entries:

1. 100 points + 35 = 135 points
2. 90 points + 35 = 125 points
3. 80 points + 35 = 115 points
4. 70 points + 35 = 105 points
5. 60 points + 35 = 95 points
6. 50 points + 35 = 85 points
7. 40 points + 35 = 75 points
8. 30 points + 35 = 65 points
9. 20 points + 35 = 55 points
10. 10 points + 35 = 45 points

Qualification jackpots with short go-rounds short go will award points as follows, regardless of the number of entries. Points will only be awarded for the position you placed. If a contestant places in the short go that is not JrNFR eligible, those points will not be awarded.

Short-Go Points:

1. 30 points
2. 25 points
3. 20 points
4. 15 points
5. 10 points
6. 5 points

Points will also be awarded to the top four incentive contestants at each jackpot regardless of, or in addition to, any other points they may have accumulated. These points will be awarded in the average. If there are not enough qualified times in the average, points will be awarded to the overall.

Fast Times In The Go-Rounds:

1. 20 points
2. 15 points
3. 10 points
4. 5 points

The top 40 contestants at the end of the qualifying jackpots will qualify for Ote Berry's Junior Steer Wrestling World Championship at the Junior National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, Nevada, December 12th-16th, 2017. Point totals at the end of the qualifying jackpots will determine draw positions at the JrNFR. There will be at least 10 incentive contestants qualify for the JrNFR, for example, if there are 7 incentive contestants in the top 40, the next 3 highest point incentive contestants will qualify, making the total number 43; if there are 10 incentive qualifiers in the top 40, the total qualifiers taken from the points system will be 40. OBJSWWC is currently negotiating with different associations and organizations about the possibility of taking top contestants from their associations, organizations or finals. Contestants points will not be carried over or used at the JrNFR. OBJSWWC champion, and the incentive champion, will be determined by the average at the JrNFR.
