The Monster Energy Buck Off at the Garden, Presented by Ariat
This event features two different formats for the best competitors in the league.
The Majors
New York is one of four majors during the season. The main event features two rounds plus a championship round for the top 35 in the world after the 2018 season.
Points are awarded for both rounds of competition plus the championship round for these top athletes.
See that top 35 lineup for the Buck Off at the Garden HERE. The roster includes a star-studded lineup of athletes like PBR World Finals event winner Marco Eguchi, 2018 PBR Rookie of the Year Keyshawn Whitehorse, and the richest man in western sports, J.B. Mauney.
15/15 Bucking Battle
This is a special round of competition where the top 15 bull riders are randomly matched up with the top 15 bulls in the PBR. Up for grabs?
An added purse and 1.5 times the rounds points for anyone that can place against the best four-legged athletes the association has to offer. This section does not count towards the event’s overall scoring, but the points offered here do count towards the crucial world standings numbers.
See the top 15 draw HERE that includes 2017 PBR World Champion Jess Lockwood who says he “knocked the rust off” on a practice bull earlier this week to prepare for the season opener.
The Oakland Classic
The Velocity Tour is a bull rider’s best bet to battle his way into those exclusive top 35 spots on the Unleash the Beast Tour. Points earned here will go towards the world standings and every win at a Velocity Tour event earns bull riders a spot in a premier touring event as well – making this the primary and most important qualifying series for competitors.
Competitors in Oakland, California, on Jan. 5 will compete in a long round and championship round on the same day to earn those crucial points. The Velocity Tour has already had two events in 2018 that count towards the 2019 finals, with the Oakland Classic marking the third event for the expansion tour.
