Pile 'O Bones Rodeo, the eighth stop on the SMS Pro Rodeo Tour, kicks off this weekend Regina, Saskatchewan. 

The important Tour event, complete with the 'best of the best' rodeo athletes aboard outstanding rough stock and timed event horses, runs Aug. 5-6 at Brandt Centre.

The name Pile 'O Bones commemorates an element of the area's history. 

Indigenous People would come to hunt the roaming herds of bison, then stack the bison bones into large piles to honor the animals' spirit(s), as bison herds were disappearing due to over-hunting by non-indigenous hunters.

And, with just three rodeos remaining on the Pro Tour schedule after this weekend, the race to determine SMS Equipment Pro Tour Finals qualifiers is tightening.
