Tyson Durfey Adds Strathmore Stampede Victory To Already Strong Season
When you look at the year Tyson Durfey has been having, you might ponder the idea that a second world title is in his path. The 2016 world champion just seems to be on one of those rolls that can’t be stopped.
“I wanted to be as focused the first run of the season as I am the last run of the season,” Durfey said shortly after winning the 2018 Strathmore Stampede.
Durfey tied his calf in 7.4 seconds to take home the win on the final day of competition in Strathmore, Alberta. The win is just one of several key victories he has made this year that has resulted in the Weatherford, Texas, resident holding the No. 1 spot in the PRCA World Standings almost exclusively in the 2018 rodeo season.
Durfey's total sat at $95,251.72 before the weekend — his $6,091.20 from Strathmore, coupled with a couple other smaller checks South of the border — will easily put him over the $100,000 milestone for the 2018 season with many more rodeos left to go.
