'I Got A Chance. It's A Long Shot, But It's A Chance.' - Trey Gallais
Trey Gallais and Trent Tunke got together at the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede. Ever since then, they’ve just been waiting for the right draw to show what they can do.
After their 4.6-second run at the Strathmore Stampede saw them win the rodeo by more than half a second and earn $3,489.75, we’d say the “right draw” had come along. But this was more than just a win at a rodeo; the paycheck means they now have a chance to qualify for the 2018 Canadian Finals Rodeo.
The pair also has a good chance to qualify for the Finning Pro Tour Finals in Armstrong, British Columbia, if Gallais can make up a few more points. In the latest standings update, Tunke has moved all the way up to the No. 3 spot and should be safe, and if Gallais can improve his No. 14 spot in Armstrong's regular tour rodeo, he will have a chance at the extra $6,000 added in the tour finals on top of the regular-rodeo purse of $13,000 (split).
They'll have to have some good weekends, but they have a shot.
