The legend of Tuf Cooper -- the 2011, 2012, and 2014 PRCA tie-down roping champion -- continues to grow.

Day 2 of Barry Burk's Jr Roping Roundup started with the 16-19 Tiedown roping. If you take a look back at some of the past champions, you will recognize many WNFR qualifiers and several World Champions, so you can imagine the competition is tough. The age group ropings are all 3 rounds and a top 15 short round. The winner of the average of the 16-19 tiedown won a gorgeous Oxbow saddle, and the fast time winner won a trophy rope can. 

Day 1 of Barry Burk's Jr Roping Roundup kicked off with the Open Tiedown roping, which was also a qualifier for RFD TV's The American. The American qualifier is a side-pot, meaning you enter the roping, then enter the qualifier in addition to the regular jackpot. There were 5 spots awarded for contestants to compete at RFD TV's The American Semi Finals in Fort Worth next February for their chance to advance to Dallas Cowboy's Stadium for The American and a chance at their share of a million dollars to the top 5 people in the average who entered the side-pot.

Justin Maass grew up in the small town of Giddings, Texas, about 60 miles east of Austin. As a kid he was more interested in team sports than rodeo, but once he tried his hand at roping he was hooked. The rest is history. Maass is the only cowboy to win back-to-back PRCA/AQHA Tie-Down Horse of the Year Awards with two different horses. He is a two-time Rodeo Houston champion, eight-time WNFR qualifier, and PRCA $1 million earner, among numerous other titles and wins. The numbers certainly don't lie in proving Maass knows a thing or two about calf roping.

Trevor Brazile has been in this position before. In fact, nobody's won more CINCH Timed Event Championship titles than the Texan, and he proved why Friday afternoon during the first round of this year's "Ironman of ProRodeo."

The contestants in the first go-round ever in the Jr. Ironman Championships learned some valuable lessons Friday morning.

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Reigning world champions in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association are trying for repeat titles, and many are using the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo as a stepping stone in their quest to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo and a gold buckle.

Six-time world champion Cody Ohl has announced he will be hosting his own Jr. Calf Roping Championships, featuring four qualifying ropings beginning in March and finals in December. All qualifying ropings will be three head with a top 10 to the short round.
