Despite a last-minute rush to even qualify for the 2018 Canadian Finals Rodeo, Levi Simpson and Jeremy Buhler have proven to be unstoppable on Canadian soil for two years in a row. The pair walked out of Westerner Park in Red Deer, Alberta, as the Canadian champion team ropers for the second time as a team, and Simpson's fourth title in his career.

More than 600 rodeos and over $36 million dollars all boil down to this. September 30 marks the final day of the 2018 PRCA regular season, meaning we have less than two weeks until the fate of the top 15 competitors in the world is sealed.

Katy Lucas is a gem of a human being. Not only does she come from a long line of Canadian roping legends (including her not-so-little brother Kyle, who is sitting seventh in the Canadian tie-down roping standings), but she was also Miss Rodeo Canada in 2015. She's humble, kind, one of the hardest workers I have ever met. Most importantly, she puts up with me and my crazy ideas on how to market FloRodeo and our events on a daily basis. 

From cheering for her husband in the grandstands to making her own trip down the alley for the Canadian Finals Rodeo, Diane Skocdopole made her presence known in 2017. She was the CPRA permit champion, rookie of the year, and eventually finished out the finals as the fifth-ranked barrel racer in Canada. 

The Thompson family had their hands full at the 2018 National Little Britches Rodeo Association Finals in Guthrie, Oklahoma, in mid-July. Five of the siblings were there, competing on almost a dozen horses, but that’s nothing for this family of 10, with eight kids ranging from 2 to 22.

Just two years after he threw his first steer, Rylen Sutherland has become the 2018 National Little Britches Rodeo Association world champion steer wrestler. Sutherland has been competing in other events his entire life, but the steer wrestling seems like a natural fit for the 18-year-old.

For many rodeo kids out there, the first person you compete against when you start getting ready to rodeo is your sibling. Your home arena may play host to hundreds of Cheyennes, Calgary Stampedes, and NFRs where siblings battle it out and learn how to be competitive. 

We spoke to young Kelsey Cadwell at the 2017 Junior NFR shortly after she qualified for the short round. Not only did Cadwell do so among a field of tough junior barrel racing competitors, but she also did it on a new mount when her horse came up lame and needed surgery.

Vern Nolin was unstoppable at the World Professional Chuckwagon Association's stop at the 2018 Ponoka Stampede. As the results came in after night No. 4, Nolin was named the aggregate champion, then came out of the semifinals on night five as the No. 1 man, and went on to win the Tommy Dorchester $50,000-heat on the final night of competition.
