There is still a lot of season left to go, but with another two big-money rodeos on the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association's Finning Pro Tour passing us by last weekend, competitors at the top of the Canadian standings can start to breathe a little easier knowing there is a good chance they've qualified for the Canadian Finals Rodeo.

The draw on the final day of the 2019 Strathmore Stampede was one we were excited to see as soon as it was posted on rodeocanada.com. It was chalked full of roughstock matchups that we knew were going to be electric, including the one between Clint Laye and Northcott/Macza's Stevie Knicks in the bareback.
Dawson Hay had never even drawn up in the same pen (day) as Northcott/Macza's Get Smart before the 2019 Strathmore Stampede, but we're sure happy he finally got the chance to ride the famous horse.
When we spoke with soon-to-be 2019 Strathmore Stampede champion Kurt Bensmiller the night before the final race, he didn't think the last day of competitor would go that well, having drawn barrel No. 4 to end his competition there. Not only did he prove himself wrong, but he completed his final race at a speed of 1:13.93 - the fastest time of the entire weekend to win the aggregate title for the second year in a row.

The Finning Pro Tour stop a the Strathmore Stampede is always one of the highlights of both the tour, and the entire Canadian Professional Rodeo Association season with it's top stock, competitors and $20,000 added in each event.
